The tallest tree on the grounds of Glenveagh Castle was felled following Storm Eowyn.
It’s one of numerous old or rare trees that were felled or damaged by the historic storm in Donegal, according to the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
The black pine tree was felled by the storm, along with a rare species of shrub – with extensive damage caused across the garden and the wider national park in Glenveagh.
In Glenveagh National Park alone, hundreds of trees including mature oaks, birch and holly were damaged or felled by the storm.
Parts of Glenveagh National Park will remain closed to the public in the coming weeks as the storm cleanup continues, with the removal of dangerous branches and severely damaged trees required for public safety.
