Kildrum Tigers Reserves 2 v 0 Strand Rovers
In a tight fought first half Kildrum came closest to scoring through Daniel Square Mc Nulty, his effort on 40 minutes narrowly missing the target. For the 2nd half the home side came out with the bit between their teeth and 5 minutes in Mc Nulty found the top corner from 30 yards to put the Tiger’s ahead. They kept applying the pressure and in the 60th minute Michael Ayton struck from the edge of the box to ensure all three points for the Tiger’s

Swilly Rovers Reserves 1 v 1 Keadue Rovers Reserves
Swilly started the game with 10 men and battled well with chances coming at both ends in a very even first half. Swilly’s 11th man came around the 42nd minute but the level playing field didn’t last long as Shea Mc Fadden was forced off two minutes later. The visitors took the lead around the 62nd minute when some good work down the left was finished off by Keadue’s Mark Boyle. Both teams were pushing to get the next goal but it was Swilly who got it when Tony Gallagher made a mazy run from centre back and found himself finding the corner of the net after his shot took a looping deflection over the Keadue keeper. Keadue were piling on the pressure to get a winner but the ten men of Swilly were wearing their hearts on their sleeves, putting in blocks making clearances and standing firm.
Old Orchard Saturday Division Two
Fintown Harps AFC 0 v 1 Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves
In windy conditions at Pairc Acla 3rd place played 4th and the 1st half showed these teams were evenly matched with both teams cancelling each other out with very few chances created. with Aaron Mc Glynn had the best chance on 25 minutes with a shoot that went just wide of the target. With ten minutes left Shiels connected with a great cross to put Kilmacrennan ahead. Fintown battled hard until the end but couldn’t find the leveller.
Finn Travel Saturday Division Three
Ballybofey United Reserves 1 v 2 Lagan Harps Reserves
Lagan nearly took the lead early on after the ball bounced about in the box and fell to their attacker but a great save from Daniel Crawford kept the sides level. Ballybofey had a chance of their own to take the lead after James Sweeney played a lovely ball through to Michael Scully who curled it around the keeper but it came off the post. Lagan took the lead after a lovely ball over the top of the Ballybofey defence found their striker in on goal and he slotted it into the bottom corner giving Crawford no chance. Ballybofey nearly had the perfect start to the second half when Colin Kearns came close but his shot deflected wide.
Ballybofey got an equaliser not long after that when substitute Ryan Mc Ghee was fouled in the box and up stepped Kieran Thompson who levelled it for Ballybofey. Lagan responded well and took the lead again after another ball over the top caught out the Ballybofey defence and their striker finished well again. Ballybofey had a good chance to equalise after Sweeney slipped in Thompson but a great save from the Lagan keeper kept them in front.
Lagan had a chance to put the game to bed in the dying minutes after their winger found himself through on goal but again Crawford made a great save to keep Ballybofey in the game.

Gweedore United Reserves 9 v 0 Cranford United Reserves
Gweedore United Reserves produced their best performance of the season with an emphatic victory on a rather cold and sunny day at the Carrickboyle ground. The home side made the perfect start on the third minute when a delicate shot from inside box by Seighean O’ Baoill clipped the inside of the crossbar to nestle into the net. An excellent early start continued for the Gweedore men as they doubled their lead on the 5th minute when Brian Mc Fadden found himself one on one with Aaron Sweeney in the Cranford goal. Immense pressure from the home side yielded a third goal for them on the 18th minute, when they were awarded a penalty after Dylan Mc Fadden was adjudged to have brought down Brian Mc Fadden in the box, Francis Gallagher scored from the resulting spot kick. The visitors were unable to get a foothold in the first half and were mostly decamped in their own half. Gweedore United threatened to score their 4th of the day and had further efforts from Seighean O’ Baoill, Brian Mc Fadden, Padraig Mc Fadden and Francis Gallagher. Any hope the away side had in getting back into the game evaporated on the 28th minute as a defensive error was punished by Francis Gallagher. The Gweedore men were relentless and targeted the left-hand side. Ciaran Mc Fadden was unlucky when his shot from outside the box smacked the post. However, in the 31st minute he was on the score sheet after he finished from close range after more good work down the left-hand side by the home side. The visitors best chance came in the 32nd minute when Patrick Mc Geever found himself one on one with Charles John Doherty but strayed just offside. A fantastic solo effort from Brian Mc Fadden in the 33rd minute provided Gweedore United a 6-goal cushion at half time. The visitors found themselves under more intense pressure in the second half and Brian Mc Fadden produced a fine save from Aaron Sweeney to deny him his hat-trick in the 54th minute. A minute later however Brian Mc Fadden scored his third of the day when he headed in a cross from Padraig Mc Fadden. Aaron Sweeney made another excellent save from Francis Gallagher in the 60th minute as he tipped a headed effort over the crossbar. The visitors were largely restricted to a couple of chances and were well marshalled by the Gweedore defence, Charles John Doherty made a save from Conor Breslin. Conor Gallagher tried to seek a consolation goal for Cranford. Gweedore United increased their lead in the 70th minute as Callum Feireatear played in Ciaran Mc Fadden to score his second of the game from 6 yards out. The Gweedore men continued looking for further goals and Owen Gallagher was unlucky not to have added to their tally. Another assist from Callum Feireatear in the 87th minute resulted in Stephen Mulhern scoring the home side’s 9th of the game. A comprehensive win for Gweedore United and there were several superb standout performances on display from them especially Brian Mc Fadden, Ciaran Mc Fadden, Francis Gallagher. Aaron Sweeney for the visitors produced some excellent saves in the game and Patrick Mc Geever and Conor Gallagher worked hard to create chances as well. Referee: Patrick Mc Cauley

Ulster Junior Shield
Letterkenny Rovers Reserves 3 v 2 Convoy Arsenal
Letterkenny Rovers edged past Convoy Arsenal in a thrilling Ulster Junior Shield encounter at Leckview Astro, securing a 3-2 victory to advance to the next round. Convoy struck first in the 17th minute when Jamie O’ Donnell’s pinpoint cross from the right found Anthony Bogle who headed into the net to give the visitors the lead. Rovers responded well and were awarded a penalty on the half-hour mark when Jordan Nugent was fouled in the box. Conor O’ Donnell stepped up and coolly converted to level the score at 1-1. Rovers continued to press, with O’ Donnell and Winston going close, and Nugent rattling the crossbar in the 37th minute. Just before the break, O’ Donnell broke free down the left and unleashed a strong strike but Convoy’s keeper Konrad Krol was equal to it, ensuring the sides remained level at halftime. The second half started with Convoy creating an early chance, forcing Rovers’ keeper Josh Wade into action. However, it was Rovers who struck next in the 48th minute, as O’ Donnell latched onto a great ball wide, drove into the box, and rifled a shot across goal to put Rovers 2-1 ahead. Convoy quickly hit back, winning a penalty in the 53rd minute. Bogle made no mistake from the spot hitting high into the roof of the net, bringing the game back to 2-2. Rovers continued to push forward, and their persistence paid off in the 64th minute. O’ Donnell whipped in a dangerous cross, and Kealan Dunleavy met it with a powerful header, restoring Rovers’ lead at 3-2. Both sides created chances in the closing stages with Adam Murphy going close from 35 yards and Wade making a crucial intervention to clear the danger during a scramble in the Rovers’ box. Despite Convoy’s late pressure Rovers held firm to secure the victory in a fiercely contested match.

St. Catherines 6 v 1 Swilly Rovers
The wet conditions made heavy going for all involved at Emerald Park. It was pretty much honours even for the first 15 minutes until a fifty-fifty ball was contested at the edge of the saints 18-yard line where Swilly’s Mc Daid showed great bravery, pushing the ball past the Saints’ keeper for a one-nil lead. The Home team remained positive and got their just rewards on 25 minutes when a corner that Swilly failed on two occasions to clear ended up at the boot of Odhran Mc Guinness and he was going to make no mistake from 6 yards to level the scoreline. It reminded quite an even contest with both keepers getting tested on several occasions but on 40 minutes, when the Saints were awarded a free kick just outside the Rovers box, Josh Maxwell struck powerfully and accurately where the away keeper could just watch as the ball hit the top corner for a 2-1 lead which would remain until the half-time interval. Gerard Devine had just blown to restart the second half when once again Rovers never cleared from a corner and the tenacious Ryan Carr blasted home from close range. This knocked the stuffing out of Swilly and it was all one-way traffic for the reminder of the game. The home team were splitting the away defence with excellent low passes through the wide spaces as Swilly were now getting caught short for numbers at the back in their search for a way back. Goals from Paul O’ Hare and two more hat-trick man Josh Maxwell made for a comprehensive 6-1 victory and a vital three points in their quest to remain in the premier league. Maxwell takes the match ball but Captain Ryan Cunningham deserves a mention for a dominant performance from midfield, driving his team on to victory.
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Cappry Rovers 1 v 2 Lagan Harps
Lagan took the lead early in the game when Faolan Gibson scored from close range. In what was a very scrappy first half with neither side creating anything. Lagan doubled their lead when Kyle Martin scored. Cappry pulled one back when Daniel Marley scored with 10 minutes to go.
Glenea United 3 v 1 Donegal Town
Glenea came out on top in the battle of the top two after a hard-fought game with Donegal Town. In a cagey opening quarter both sides found it hard to get into their stride with Donegal coming closest to opening the scoring on 25 minutes when some good play by Declan Duignan created an opening for himself but he saw his effort just go the wrong side of the post. This seemed to spark the home side into action they started to put pressure on the away defence and were rewarded on 38 minutes when a clearance from a corner by the away defence was hooked back in by PJ Doogan and Darren Mc Geever reacted quickest to slide the ball home from close range. Glenea, playing with the wind, looked to extend their lead and PJ Doogan saw his effort from the edge of the box well saved by Dermot Mc Cafferty. On the stroke of halftime Shaun Curran saw his free kick tipped over the bar by Mc Cafferty. In the 2nd half, despite playing against the breeze, it was the home side that started the brighter and had the Donegal town defence under pressure. On 50 minutes good interplay between Darren Mc Geever and PJ Doogan released Mc Geever but he saw his effort come back off the post. Glenea continued to press and a PJ Doogan cross just evaded Darren Mc Geever at the back post. As the 2nd half progressed, the away side came more into the game but were finding it difficult to create any clear-cut chances. Donegal almost equalised on 70 minutes when a long-range effort from Ian Campbell came back off the post. Donegal Town equalised on 75 minutes when the home defence failed to deal with a free kick into the box and in the ensuing scramble Stephen Graham forced the ball home. However, Glenea retook the lead on 78 minutes when Calvin Murray converted a penalty after he had been fouled in the box. As the away side pushed on for an equaliser, they began to leave gaps at the back but the home side failed to convert the chances that came their way until 85 minutes when Ciaran Mc Geady was fouled in the box and Calvin Murray converted his second penalty of the day. Best Glenea were Kevin Mulhern and Conor Coyle while Eoin Slevin and Aidan Mc Hugh were best for Donegal Town. Referee: Michael Connolly.
Milford United 0 v 3 Ballybofey United
Ballybofey went one up on 45 minutes when Daithi Mc Mahon got in behind the Milford defence and finished well, although there were calls from the Milford camp about off-side. Ballybofey had the best chances early on with Caolan Mc Gettigan making a few top drawer saves. Milford’s best chances fell to Corey Lee Mc Conigley but he failed to hit the target. On 55 minutes Milford were reduced to ten men as Lorcan Friel picked up his 2nd yellow. Ballybofey went two up minutes later through Damian Glackin. Daithi McMahon wrapped things up to make it 0-3.
Donegal Physiotherapy and Performance Centre Division Two
Deele Harps 1 v 1 Curragh Athletic
On a bitterly cold afternoon Deele welcomed Curragh to Marty Duffy Park for this Division Two match. Deele started best and created a few chances but found the Curragh keeper in good form. Deele did take a deserved lead on 44 minutes when Maddox Roberts dribbled inside and found Jordy Duffy who rifled home from the edge of the box. The second half followed in a similar fashion with Deele on top and creating chances but Curragh held firm. Curragh found an equaliser on 80 minutes when a Barney Lafferty free-kick deflected in to earn a point for the away side. Team performances. Referee: Stephen Laird.

Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 6 v 1 Raphoe Town
The ‘71 kept had a fully deserved victory over Raphoe at Rab’s Park on Sunday. All the ‘71 goals came in the first half as they put in a brilliant display of football. Johnny Nanny got the first on 16 minutes with a neat finish at the back post and shorty after got his second with a great strike from the edge of the box. On 20 minutes Kevin Loughrey made it three from the spot. James Kerr made it four on 30 minutes with another fine strike before Bernard Mc Gettigan got on the score-sheet after a great ball from James Kerr. Johnny Nanny completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half time with a cool finish. Raphoe made a few subs at half time and came into the game with Baxter scoring from close range on 60 minutes. Chances were few and far between in the closing stages. Referee: Matthew Hull. Team performance from both teams.
Whitestrand United 3 v 2 Drumkeen United
Whitestrand United looked to continue their good form when they welcomed Drumkeen to Mc Garvey Park. Whitestrand started on the front foot but were soon a goal behind when a cross was swung into the box and flicked off the head of the Whitestrand defender to go in for an unfortunate OG. Whitestrand responded well and were the better of the two sides for the remainder of the first half without scoring an equaliser. The second half started with Whitestrand looking to reassert their dominance and get an equaliser but they were shocked to go two down when some good play led to the Drumkeen player firing into the bottom corner. At this stage Whitestrand looked down and out but they showed incredible character and got a goal back when Michael Sweeney broke free and fired into the back of the net. The game then turned in the space of six minutes when Kevin Mc Carry was taken out by the keeper and Sweeney equalised. Drumkeen were then reduced to ten men and Whitestrand took the lead when Ronan Sweeney fired in at the back post. Whitestrand almost had a fourth but Sweeney who was taken down in the box missed the penalty for his hat-trick.
