Creative Donegal native Aoibheann MacNamara brought her colourful tastes to the fore in RTE’s The Great House Revival last night.

Chef Aoibheann, who was born in Ardara, now runs one of Galway’s best restaurants, Ard Bia.

With plenty of artistic flair, Aoibheann shared her journey of restoring an isolated cottage in the Burren, Co Clare.

The programme followed Aoibheann’s creative clashes with no-nonsense builder, John Cannole, who sought to bring her unconventional ideas back to earth.

Presenter Hugh Wallace also tried his best to rein in her ‘mad as a hatter’ vision to help her meet the deadline.

Despite all the challenges and opposition, the strong-willed chef eventually finished with an exceptional design that belies the walls of the traditional cottage she started with.

The episode is available to watch now on the RTE Player.
