Gairmscoil Chú Uladh in Ballinamore has launched a unique initiative offering students the chance to take a year to learn Irish while enjoying all the opportunities of Transition Year.
Students from other schools can take the year to focus on becoming proficient in Irish while immersed in Gaeltacht culture.
“Transition Year allows students to flourish and grow beyond the pressures of exams, allowing them to explore new interests and build skills in a more relaxed and supportive environment,” the school said.
“Gairmscoil Chú Uladh’s Transition Year Programme offers an extensive and comprehensive range of courses, modules, and workshops catering to various student interests and skills.
“This opportunity is perfect for students who wish to improve their fluency in Irish for their Leaving Certificate and to prepare for future careers in the Irish language sector – education, law, media, and journalism to name but a few.”
Students will speak Irish while taking part in GCU’s diverse Transition Year Programme that includes core subjects alongside modules like horticulture and coding, and various workshops ranging from sign language to animation, alongside extracurricular activities and opportunities for Erasmus+ European Exchange.
Cost: Transition Year in Gairmscoil Chú Uladh incurs no upfront fee.
The school also highlighted its accessibility for students across Donegal, listing the bus routes that serve the Ballinamore location:
