The stories of Seamus Coleman’s huge heart, both on and off the field, are already legendary.
He will bleed for his club Everton and give them his very last ounce of energy every time he puts on his jersey.
And when it comes to donating to charitable causes, the Killybegs always puts his hand up.
And so he did again when his team took on rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby this week at Goodison Park.
The game had been due to be played just over two months ago but was cancelled due to Storm Darragh.
It was a pain for many but one Australian teenager, Mackenzie Kinsella, made the 10,000-mile trip from Down Under to see Everton take on Liverpool.
Coleman heard about the unfortunate circumstances and even invited young Mackenzie down to see the Toffees train.
But Seamus Coleman doesn;t do things by half.
So fast forward to this week and the cancelled game at Goodison Park between the two bitter rivals.
And who is in the stand other than a certain Mackenzie Kinsella – thanks to the big-hearted Everton captain Coleman.
Coleman stuck his own hand in his own pocket to make sure the young Australian made the 10,000 km trip from his home to see the rescheduled game.
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of the game, MacKenzie said “Very special, I mean I’ve grown up watching Seamus, I think he’s been at the club longer than I’ve been alive so very special.
“So to have had all this contact with him, and for him to have literally paid for me to come back is just really amazing.
“The (attention) got really far, I didn’t think it would go that far. I just came to watch the game like any other fan, but I’m very glad it did get that attention, you know I’m not complaining at all.
“It was really good to talk to him (Coleman tonight). I really want to thank him for everything he’s done, nothing would have been possible without him and I can’t thank him enough”.
Seamus Coleman. Role model. Decent skin and utterly selfless human being.
