A Donegal man has pleaded guilty to endangering his brother by driving a car and dragging him along the ground.

Leslie Kee appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Kee, aged 43 and of Aveltygort, Killygordon, pleaded guilty to two charges when he was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.

Kee was charged with endangerment, contrary to section 13 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

He is charged that on November 2, 2020, at Aveltygort, Killygordon, he intentionally or recklessly engaged in conduct which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to another in the manner in which he drove a mechanically propelled vehicle at Robert Kee, knocking him to the ground and continuing to drive, dragging him along the ground.

The accused man was also charged with threatening to damage property, namely a tractor, at the same location and on the same day.

The charge is contrary to section 3 of the Criminal Damage Act, 1991.

Kee spoke only to plead guilty to the charges.

Mr Peter Nolan BL, barrister for Kee, said his client has previous convictions, which are “relevant”.

“This is a very unfortunate family situation where the brother is the victim,” Mr Nolan said.

Mr Nolan asked for the preparation of a probation report on behalf of his client.

Judge Aylmer agreed and adjourned the matter until July for sentencing.
