Donegal 1-07 v 0-08 Monaghan
A last-minute goal at the death from Captain Fantastic Roisin Rodgers rescued victory from the jaws of defeat for the Donegal Ladies in their League clash against provincial rivals Monaghan this afternoon.
The strike also secured Donegal their first win of their Division 2 campaign, after two draws in their first two fixtures away from home, against Clare and Westmeath.
Despite Donegal having home advantage with this game being played in Lifford, Monaghan got out to an early two-point lead.
Donegal would fight from behind the make it honours even at half time, 0-04 apiece.
They would then take their first lead of the contest early in the second half, but both sides were neck-and-neck and tied at 0-07 apiece with minutes to spare.
Monaghan grabbed the lead with just a minute left to play in regulation, as Jodie McQuillan struck to leave Donegal facing an uphill battle.
Cometh the hour and cometh Roisin Rodgers, as she bundled the ball into the net with the last action of the game, after a Donegal free fell short.
