Local Councillor Patrick McGowan has thanked ESB crews for their quick work in restoring power to the centre of Killygordon.
It’s after a dramatic incident yesterday evening, when a lorry struck an electricity pole in the village and knocking out power for hundreds of homes.
Gardaí say their investigations into the collision are ongoing, after the driver of the lorry then failed to remain at the scene.
Power has now been restored to the village, after a mammoth effort by repair crews – which also involved the fast-forwarding of improvement works that had been scheduled for later this year already.
“Thanks to ESB Crews who worked all day to replace a broken pole and took the opportunity to move back the other existing poles from the road side to the inside the footpath in order to avoid this from happening again,” Cllr McGowan told Donegal Daily.
“This was to be done later in the year but the ESB crew used the outage today to fast forward this work. Well done ESB.”
