A man has pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a young woman in Dunfanaghy in 1999.

Raymond McGinley, aged 58, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he pleaded guilty to a single charge.

McGinley admitted to touching the young woman’s breast while kissing her as she sat on his knee.

The incident happened at Horn Head between June 1st and September 30th, 1999.

McGinley is charged with sexual assault contrary to Section 2 of the Criminal Law and rape Amendment Act of 1990, as amended by Section 37.

The accused man, of Corncreggan, Dunfanaghy, only spoke during the short arraignment to plead guilty.

McGinley’s barrister, Mr Peter Nolan, instructed by Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client had not previous convictions.

He requested a Probation and Social Welfare report for his client which was granted by Judge John Aylmer.

The case was adjourned to the July sessions of the circuit court for sentencing.
