A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed at a house in Co Donegal.
The incident happened at a house in Ballyshannon at 1.30am in the early hour of this morning.
Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 50s received life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack.
The victim was rushed to Sligo General Hospital where he is being treated.
A Garda spokesperson said “Gardaí received a report of a serious assault at a residence in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, at around 1:30am on Friday, 31st January, 2025.
“A man, aged in his 50s, was brought to Sligo General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.”
Gardaí confirmed that another man, also in his 50s, was arrested following the incident.
He is being detained at a Garda Station in the North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
