Gardaí have issued an information appeal on the 20th anniversary of the murder of Shaun Duffy.
Shaun was brutally killed in his home at Meenacross, Dungloe on Saturday the 29th of January 2005.
A post-mortem on his body found that he had suffered several stab wounds, severe head injuries, and there was also evidence that he was shot with a crossbow in the killing.
The 36-year-old bachelor was well known in the area, working as an undertaker and as a mechanic. He had an interest and involvement in motor racing and horse sales.
Shaun had been socialising in the Strand View Bar in Maghery on Friday, 28th January, 2005 as part of a celebration of his brother Kevin’s birthday.
He continued to socialise at his mother’s house in Meenacross and returned to his own home at approximately 2:30am, where he was attacked and fatally wounded in the early hours of that morning.
His body was discovered in his home shortly before 2:30pm that afternoon.
Over the years, Gardaí have taken statements from over 600 witnesses relating to the case, and investigators at Milford Garda Station have thanked all those who have come forward with information over the years.
