Public warned of dangerous fallen wires as Storm Eowyn cleanup continues

Members of the public are being urged to be cautious when out and about in the coming days.

ESB Networks have warned the public to be vigilant as the cleanup from Storm Eowyn will continue on into next week.

The ESB say they have been made aware of a number of instances already where members of the public have unknowingly approached fallen live electricity wires and narrowly escaped serious injury.

They are emphasising the dangers of “hidden risks” after storms, including wires that may be entangled in trees and branches.

Fallen electricity wires are extremely dangerous and making contact with them can cause serious or even fatal injuries.

If you come across any fallen wires or damaged electricity poles, never approach them as they are live and extremely dangerous.

You can report any damage to electricity wires and infrastructure directly to the ESB by calling 1800 372 999.
