Part of the main Letterkenny to Lifford road will remain closed “into next week”, following a fatal crash near Raphoe on Friday morning.
The section of the N14 road at Tullyrap has remained closed since 20-year-old Kacper Dudek tragically died there, when a tree fell on his car at 5:30am on Friday morning.
The young man was travelling home from work to Lifford when the tragic accident occurred – the incident happening mere hours before a status red weather warning for Storm Eowyn was to come into effect.
A technical examination of the scene took place yesterday, but the road seems set to remain closed for a time yet.
Donegal County Council say that the closure between the Whitehill junction and the Feddyglass junction will remain in place to facilitate storm clean up and tree removal from the area.
The road will be closed all day today (Sunday), with the Council saying further updates will be provided this evening – but as of now, the closure is set to be in place at the start of next week also.
Local diversions are in place, and motorists are being advised to use the Ballindrait to Raphoe and St. Johnson to Rossgier roads.
