A number of shows had to be cancelled at An Grianan Theatre after the building’s roof was damaged yesterday.
The strong wings brought by Storm Eowyn forced the cancellation of two Letterkenny Pantomine performances today/
“Due to damage sustained from Storm Éowyn both showings of The Wizard of Oz have been cancelled at 2.00pm and 7.30pm today until further notice,” the theatre said on social media.
We are working hard on rescheduling the dates and will keep you updated with any additional information. We appreciate your patience as we deal with the situation. Our team will be in touch with you directly.”
Meanwhile the Letterkenny Pantomine said that they were “crushed” that their planned shows had to be called off.
“Thank you for all the kind messages of support today – our hearts have been lifted by the response of our friends,” they posted on social media.
“However, the safety of cast, crew, chorus, committee, kiddies & audience members (comes first), Eowyn spoiled our plans, we are grateful everyone is safe and well.”
“We apologise to ticket holders and to our hosts Bonagee United & Letterkenny Rovers FC for any inconvenience caused but the situation is very much beyond our control.”
“We are grateful, as ever, for the existence of Niall Cranney, who worked so hard with Pete & Paul to try and open this evening… thanks guys, just wasn’t meant to be.”
