Donegal County Council is providing sandbags to the public today (Thursday) ahead of Storm Éowyn.
Sandbags are available from 1pm today at the Mart Carpark (across from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál).
Anybody needing sandbags to protect your home or property is welcome to collect some.
Donegal County Council has pre-deployed sandbags in a number of high risk areas and further sandbags are ready to be deployed if required.
Roads Service, Fire Service and Civil Defence crews are at a heightened state of readiness in the event of local responses being required during this storm event, however will only be deployed during the period of the red warning in instances with an immediate threat to life.
A Status Red Wind Warning will be in effect in Donegal from 7am Friday morning until 2pm Friday afternoon.
A Status Orange Wind Warning remains in place from midnight Friday until 4pm Friday evening.
There is a marine Storm Warning from Rossan Point to Malin Head to Strangford Lough and on the Irish Sea North of Isle of Man in effect from 2pm Friday until 7pm Friday evening.
Donegal County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team are keeping the approaching weather pattern under review and will continue to monitor all local conditions as Storm Éowyn progresses.

The public are asked to keep up to date with the current weather warnings and in particular any change in the status warning for their area.
