A number of Donegal students have excelled at the Trinity College Entrance Exhibition Awards.
The awards reflect the Dublin college’s commitment to academic excellence and are a distinctive part of their history with entrance exhibitions first came into being in 1870.
Among the students from Donegal to be bestowed with the awards were Killybegs students Senan McGuinness (pictured above).
His former secondary school, St Catherines Vocational School, congratulated Senan on his achievement.
Abbey VS in Donegal Town were also delighted after past pupil Eve O’Donnell also picked up an an Entrance Exhibition Award.
“Congratulations to our past pupil Eve O’Donnell who was awarded the prestigious Trinity College Entrance Exhibition Award in Trinity College,” the school posted online posted. “This award recognises exceptional academic achievement”
The awards were established by Humphrey Lloyd who was an eminent physicist and Provost of Trinity. They were awarded to just 12 students on the basis of a competitive examination covering a wide range of subjects taken in the first year.
Since 1985, Entrance Exhibitions have been awarded on the basis of performance in public examinations such as the Leaving Certificate.
