Breaking: Charlie McConalogue dropped from Cabinet

Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue has lost out on a cabinet position in the new Dáil.

The Inishowen TD was tipped for the Department of Higher Education role, but in a shocking turn of events it has gone to James Lawless.

The Agriculture portfolio has gone to Martin Heydon of Fine Gael.

McConalogue served as Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine since 2020.

The new Cabinet appointments announced by Taoiseach Micheál Martin leave Donegal without a seat at the table.

Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence – Simon Harris
Government Chief Whip – Mary Butler (also and Minister of State attending Cabinet with responsibility for Mental Health)
Minister for Finance – Pascal Donohoe
Minister for Health – Jennifer Carroll MacNeill
Minister for Education and Youth – Helen McEntee
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment – Peter Burke
Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation- Jack Chambers
