Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue has lost out on a cabinet position in the new Dáil.
The Inishowen TD was tipped for the Department of Higher Education role, but in a shocking turn of events it has gone to James Lawless.
The Agriculture portfolio has gone to Martin Heydon of Fine Gael.
McConalogue served as Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine since 2020.
The new Cabinet appointments announced by Taoiseach Micheál Martin leave Donegal without a seat at the table.
