Donegal singer-songwriter Shauna Scanlon has created the perfect track for dark winter days in her first release of 2025 – ‘Keeping On’.
The fourth single, out on 31st January, follows on from a phenomenal first year in music for the Ballybofey artist. Her first three singles received regional and national airplay in 2024; she was chosen as Beta De Silva’s Grassroots Pick of the Week on 2FM and performed on Virgin Media One’s The Six O’Clock Show. This release will be followed soon by her highly anticipated EP ‘Brand New’.
Keeping On is an anthem of hope and triumph through tough times. Shauna talks about mental health in a way everyone can relate to. She describes doing everything you’re told to do and still facing problems but having the resilience to keep going. ‘Keeping On’ is the perfect antidote to the dark, bleak days of Winter.
“This song has been a long time in the making but it’s been worth the wait!,” says Shauna.
The positive vibes of the track are created by Shauna’s soulful, RnB vocals and harmonies.
Musically, the track is a blend of the talents of local Ballybofey artists. Drummer Mark McGirr and bassist Adam Ayres keep the rhythm smooth and steady while the bluesy guitar solos and warm piano are provided by Adam Hannigan. Producer Callum ‘Gordo’ Gordon cleverly ties all elements together to give the song a retro-soul feel.
