The clever 5 th and 6 th class pupils of Dooish NS, Ballybofey, have qualified for the All Ireland VEX Robotics finals in Cork next month.
The boys and girls successfully took part in the VEX IQ North-West tournament at ATU Donegal, Letterkenny, last week.
The pupils performed brilliantly and put in huge effort in the areas of teamwork – building and design, Autonomous Coding and the Skills Challenge.
VEX Robotics is a programme that promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Pupils design, build and programme their own robot to compete in exciting teamwork-based competitions. They also develop critical thinking, communication and project management skills.
The pupils and staff in Dooish would like to thank John Conaghan and Gary Cullen from ATU Letterkenny for organising the event and for their support throughout.
The Dooish team will now go on to represent Donegal in the All-Ireland Finals in Cork in February. Hopefully they will bring home an All-Ireland medal, just like their headmaster, Frank McGlynn, did with Donegal in 2012!
