There is expected to be a large attendance at this evening’s community engagement and crime prevention meeting in Lifford.
The event, which will begin at 7pm in Lifford/Clonleigh Resource Centre, was planned before yesterday morning’s brutal assault which left young local man, Charles Dooher (26), fighting for his life.
He received a severe beating when a gang of five hooded men broke into his home at Coneyburrow Road in broad daylight.
Charles and his father were both badly beaten at the house, on the main Ballybofey road, at around 10.30am.
Tonight’s event is one of a number of community engagement and crime prevention meetings that have been arranged to take place within the Letterkenny Garda District.
A wide range of local issues, including cross-border security, are expected to be discussed.
Inspector Paul Gallagher, Sergeant Michael McHugh and Divisional Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Fergus McGroary, plus community gardai will be attending and taking questions as well as conducting a survey.
“This will be a great opportunity for us to receive feedback/queries from the public, face to face, and to invite the public to participate in a brief survey to assist in planning for the year ahead,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Feedback from our communities matters to us. Everybody is very welcome to attend. We look forward to meeting you all there.”
