There was a fantastic turnout for the launch of Jacinta Callaghan’s first solo art exhibition at the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny on Saturday last.
Jacinta, a well-known artist and hairdresser from Kerrykeel, was joined by family and friends to celebrate her stunning works in ‘A Journey Through Landscapes – Memories of Donegal’.
The collection of landscape paintings captures some of Donegal’s most beautiful places and landmarks.
Through her work, Jacinta connects with people, evoking memories of home and nature, and offering a piece of Donegal to those who cherish it.
For Jacinta, art is not just about creating beautiful pieces; it is about finding peace in the process and connecting with others. “Art is important to me because it allows me to express myself, connect with others, and celebrate the beauty of the world around me,” she explains.
“It’s a mindful practice that helps me stay present, focus on the moment, and find peace in creating my art.”
Jacinta’s key themes revolve around the significance of place in shaping personal narratives and experiences. Whether it’s the rugged cliffs of Slieve League, the tranquil shores of Glenveagh National Park, or the quaint charm of Donegal town, each scene tells a story of love, adventure, and belonging.
Jacinta’s art is a reflection of her deep love for Donegal and the stunning landscapes that surround her. Her exhibition provides a unique opportunity for viewers to experience her intimate connection to the beauty of her home county, through works that celebrate the natural world and evoke a sense of nostalgia for those far from home.
You can visit the exhibition for free in the Foyer Gallery at the RCC between now and Friday 22nd February 2025.
