Cockhill Celtic have exited the FAI Junior Cup at the Fifth Round stage.
The defending FAI Junior Cup champions won’t be repeating their historic 2024 victory after falling just short against Avenue United of County Clare this afternoon.
Faced with a long, tough away trip to Ennis, the Inishowen League stalwarts were up against it and fell behind in the latter stages of the first half thanks to a header from Ronan Kerin.
An early second-half strike from Avenue’s Elias Kunz consigned Cockhill to a 2-0 defeat.
Elsewhere, Donegal will still have representation in the last sixteen of the competition, as Fanad United cruised to a 3-0 win in their Fifth Round tie against Dublin side Harding.
