Gardaí are appealing for information after a wheelie bin was set on fire outside a house in Milford in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí were alerted that a fire was in progress at Firmount, at around 4:15am.

It was established that a wheelie bin at a house in that area had been set alight and the fire had caught on to a fence to the rear and the side of the property.

“The fire was extinguished by the fire services and, thankfully, nobody was hurt,” Garda Grainne Doherty said.

She appealed to anybody who may have observed any suspicious activity in the Firmount area around that time to make contact with Gardaí.

Also, if anybody was in the area with a dash cam between 3.30am and 4.30am, they are urged to make the footage available to them.

Gardaí in Milford may be contacted on 0749153060 in relation to the matter. The Garda Confidential Line can also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
