A free online webinar to help parents talk to their children about defective concrete blocks and ease their concerns is taking place next week.
The session, titled “Talking to Your Children About Defective Concrete Block” is designed to provide guidance for parents and guardians on how to talk with young people about defective concrete blocks and its effects on wellbeing and will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, 21st January from 6.45pm-8pm.
The webinar came about in response to the growing concerns among homeowners dealing with defective concrete blocks, Inishowen Development Partnership [IDP], in collaboration with IFAN DCB Subgroup member, Donegal Parent and Family Support Service, is offering a free online webinar to help parents navigate difficult conversations with their children.
The webinar is funded through Tusla who is also a member of the subgroup and has been supportive of a number of initiatives for families.
Rachel Grant, Development Worker with on the Defective Concrete Block team with IDP in Buncrana said the one-hour session is based on feedback from families and aims to empower people with tools and strategies to address this challenging situation with empathy and clarity.
“We understand that defective concrete blocks don’t just impact the physical structure of a home; they also affect the emotional well-being of families,” said Rachel.
The online session will be led by Children & Young People’s Counsellor Olive Morrissey, who has extensive experience in working with families and children including those whose homes have defective concrete blocks.
“This webinar is designed to give parents the confidence and tools they need to support their children, to ease their stresses, and foster resilience during this process,” added Olive.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to address specific concerns, receive information on additional supports available and get self care tips.
