A dog who was dramatically rescued from freezing water in Buncrana yesterday is now home safe and sound.
Zeus fell from the Crana Bridge and into the Crana River yesterday afternoon, prompting a dramatic rescue as he found a small patch of shallow water to stand on.
Luckily, the members of the Lough Swilly RNLI were on hand to save him from the freezing water, with experienced rescuer Paddy Murphy wading in to retrieve Zeus and bring him to dry land.

Zeus’ owner, Sarah, took to social media to thank the efforts of the Lough Swilly RNLI in rescuing him – and showed that the little fella was enjoying the comfort of a warm fire at home just hours after the ordeal.
“Thank you so much to the Lough Swilly RNLI, the Guards and staff at Swan Park and passers by that helped!,” Sarah posted.
“We’re so grateful to everyone 🙏 Zeus is happy dry and healthy not a scratch on him! 🐶💕 special thanks to Paddy!!”
