There were joyous scenes as the Glencolmcille Fire Service celebrated its 40th anniversary yesterday.
Members past and present who worked at the Glencolmcille Fire Station over its four decade history gathered to celebrate the important four-decade mark in the station’s history.
The work of the firefighters and first responders based at the station extends far beyond just battling blazes, with the crew from Glencolmcille being lauded by the Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council for their recent assistance in responding to severe flooding in Killybegs.
Cllr Manus Boyle attended the 40th anniversary celebrations, and he also lauded the work of the firefighters based in Glencolmcille.
“Delighted to join the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Glencolmcille Fire Service last night,” Cllr Boyle said.
“This milestone reflects the unwavering dedication of the local members who serve our community, often in the toughest circumstances. Their bravery and skill are the backbone of Glencolmcille’s safety and resilience.”
“On behalf of communities in South West Donegal I express my warmest thanks to all the members past and present who’ve made this service what it is today.”
“Congratulations on 40 incredible years. Here’s to many more!”
