A national manhunt is underway after a prisoner escaped from hospital while under Garda escort overnight.
According to RTÉ News, the prisoner, a man aged in his 40s, absconded in the early hours of this morning while on escort to Tallaght Hospital.
They are reporting that the man had been receiving treatment at the hospital for the last few days prior to his eventual escape.
The prisoner remains at large, as Gardaí and the Irish Prison Service have launched an investigation into the circumstances of his escape.
