The funeral of a Buncrana man dubbed the “neighbour from hell” will take place next week.
Carl Ryan, originally from Dublin, was found dead in his prison cell in Wheatfield Prison on Christmas Day.
He had been jailed for 14 months in 2023 relating to a number of incidents that happened on the Burwood estate in Buncrana – on top of a five-and-a-half year sentence he had already been serving at the time for assaulting an elderly neighbour and other offences.
Ryan, who had 44 previous convictions, was jailed after a series of incidents, one of which included telling one of his neighbours that he would “never sleep comfortably in (his) bed again.”
He also threatened to burn the man’s children, knee cap them and nail them to the floorboards as well as burning their house down.
His funeral service will take place at Stafford’s Funeral Home, Ballyfermot on Wednesday the 15th of January, followed by burial at Palmerstown Cemetery.
