The incredible life and work of Gweedore native Dr Tom McGinley is to be celebrated in a new book that will be launched at the end of January.
He founded the Foyle Hospice in 1985, and led the institution for four decades until his death in 2021 at the age of 86.
Widely lauded as a visionary and a driving force behind hospice care in Derry and the North West, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of Derry in 2013, as well as a Papal Knighthood from Pope John Paul II in 2002.
Now his family and friends are launching a book in his memory, celebrating his life and achievements.
The book will be launched in an event at St Columb’s Hall in Derry on Wednesday the 29th of January, which gets underway at 7:15pm.
