A large number of schools and pre-schools remain closed in Donegal this morning due to treacherous road conditions.

Severe ice has been reported across the county with temperatures as low as -5C.

As a result, school transport has been severely impacted with many bus services not running.

Parents are advised to check messages from their children’s schools to confirm opening.

LocalLink services are also affected or altered to keep vehicles on main roads which are treated. Click here for updates: www.facebook.com/LocalLinkDSL

Grainne’s Gap in Muff is closed until 10am today due to ice.

ATU Donegal has altered the starting time for exams today to allow students to travel to campuses. Morning exams on the Donegal and Sligo campuses will now start one hour later than scheduled. Afternoon and evening exams will also be delayed by 30 minutes from their original start times.

An Orange Weather Warning for low temperatures and ice is in place for Donegal and 14 other counties until 8am today, Friday.

Temperatures will slowly start to increase from today, with temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees forecasted by Sunday.
