Donegal County Councillor Michéal Naughton has been nominated by the Irish Hotels Federation to contest in the Seanad Elections.
Cllr Naughton will be seeking a seat on the Industrial and Commercial panel.
The Fianna Fáil representative topped the poll in the Donegal local electoral area in last year’s local elections.
He subsequently declared his intention to run for selection for the general election, but lost out at the selection convention.
Naughton is the President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) and the general manager of the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny.
Other Donegal representatives seeking election are Fine Gael’s Jimmy Kavanagh, who was nominated by An Taoiseach to the Labour Panel. General election candidate John McNulty (Fine Gael) and outgoing Senator Niall Blaney (Fianna Fáil) are both nominated to seek election to the agricultural panel.
