Gardaí do not currently suspect foul play in the death of a man whose body was found in freezing conditions in Burnfoot yesterday.
A post-mortem was completed today on the body of a man, aged in his 30s, found at a vacant property in Dundrain on Wednesday afternoon.
The results of the examination by State Pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan are not being released for operational reasons. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.
The unidentified man’s remains were found in a steel shed which is adjacent to a cottage which has remained vacant for a number of years.
Local county councillor Jack Murray said the thoughts and prayers of the local community were with the deceased and his family.
He said “We still don’t know who this man was or how he died but our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time.
“While we cannot say how he died, I would still like to remind people to check on their neighbours, especially those living alone during this cold snap.”
