One of Donegal’s best known motor rally enthusiasts has passed away.
Jim Callaghan, a founding member of the Donegal Motor Club, died yesterday.
Mr Callaghan, who lived at Ballyraine in Letterkenny, was one of those instrumental in forming the Donegal Motor Club in 1970 and served in many roles including Clerk of the Course and Chairman.
In his professional life, Mr Callaghan was a much respected teacher.
The following is the late Mr Callaghan’s death notice:
The death has occurred at his late residence of Jim Callaghan, 5, Ballyraine Park, Letterkenny (F92 D9PR), retired teacher. Deeply regretted by his wife Kay, son Gerard (Jacquie), daughter Cliona (Ali), grandchildren Jamie, Rory, Aaron, Emma, Aidan and Andrew, neighbours, relatives and friends.
Reposing at his late residence, today Saturday 4th January 2025 from 5pm to 9pm and on Sunday 5th from 12 noon to 9pm, concluding with Rosary at 9pm on both nights.
Family time please on the morning of the funeral.
Funeral Mass at 12 noon in St. Eunan’s Cathedral on Monday 6th January which can be viewed on the link www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.
