Pedestrians and motorists are being urged to take extra care this morning due to black ice and snow.

A low temperature/ice warning is in place nationwide to 11am today (Friday) with temperatures remaining very cool throughout the day.

Untreated roads and footpaths have been described as treacherous in some areas while snow is reported on higher ground.

Some disruption is expected during the weekend too, as Met Eireann warns of “significant accumulations of snow” likely in some counties.
