An inspirational sheep farmer from Kilcar will appear on RTE’s Ear to the Ground this week to tell his story of resilience after a life-changing accident.
In 2019, Paddy Gallagher was struck by a vehicle in his home village.
The collision left him with 150 injuries and he was hospitalised for 10 weeks. While the broken bones healed, he became totally blind.
However, on the advice of one of the doctors treating him in the hospital, he decided to continue farming.
Ear to the Ground presenter Darragh McCullough recently spent the day with Paddy to learn how he is managing to farm sheep and live a fully independent life.
Paddy’s story will be shared on Thursday, 9th January – 7pm – on RTE One.
Also this week, Ella McSweeney travels to the epicentre of a deer over-population problem in Co.Wicklow, to speak to farmers, foresters and hunters all calling for immediate action.
Meanwhile, Donegal presenter Stephen Robb is in Roscommon speaking to a group of locals who have set up The Farming Rathcroghan archaeology project.
