Young Letterkenny jockey Brody Ferry was triumphant on the saddle at the traditional Ballyheigue Races in Kerry, claiming victory in the prestigious Ballyheigue Derby aboard Big Jim.
This marked Ferry’s first horse race after making the transition from pony racing.
The two-mile Derby saw Big Jim, a well-backed contender, face a stern test, particularly navigating the challenging bends.
But on the final circuit, Brody guided the CVR Syndicate gelding to win by a length.
