Members of the Tir Chonaill GAP Cycling Club completed their annual post-Christmas 100km cycle yesterday.
While many across the county were settling in to a second day of Christmas dinner leftovers and rattling their Celebrations boxes to find any remaining goodies, cycling club members donned their best winter reflective gear and took off on a rugged adventure.
They set off from Dinny’s/The Glen Tavern at 8:30am on a mixture of mountain and gravel bikes, ready to take on the roads and trails surrounding the Barnesmore Mountain.
With a route comprising of 1,600 metres of elevation, the group made a well-deserved halfway stop at Biddy’s for a breakfast roll or two before returning to The Glen Tavern just before 3pm for some much-needed refreshments.
The club also extended their thanks to member Cess Holden, who provided plenty of support and sweet treats to the riders as they took on the challenge.
