The Crossroads and Killygordon Wednesday Club for older people enjoyed another very active year.
And, they were out in force last week to help one member, Mary B Gallen, celebrate her 94th birthday!
The popular local woman, who worked in a nursing home until she was almost 80, is rarely off the road these days. Mary B never misses a chance to be in Killygordon to enjoy the live music and dancing at the weekly gathering at the Cake Centre.
The Wednesday Club members also avail of many other activities including bingo, guest speakers and finish the morning with tea and sandwiches. They have also enjoyed many trips out around the county and beyond.
The Kurling player members of the club are still winning matches in a league formed by Donegal Sports Partnership.
Last week, the club enjoyed their usual activities in the morning after which 38 members and helpers sat down to an excellent lunch provided by Yes Chef in the main hall.
Thanks to Danny Sweeney for providing the music, as he has done each Wednesday since the club’s formation.
Thanks also to Joe Carlin for the afternoon music which had all the dancers on the floor, and for his help in keeping the club so successful every week.
Thanks to Seamus McMenamin for providing the wine, enabling a toast to Christmas and 2025!
The club is closed for the festive period and will reopen on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
The Wednesday Club continues every week at the Oaktree Centre, from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm.
The organisers say more people are welcome to call in and avail of the facilities there as well as taking part in various day trips throughout the year.
