Four Masters will contest the Ulster minor football decider on New Year’s Day after an impressive semi-final win yesterday.
The Donegal town men will contest the St Paul’s Ulster Minor Club Tournament Final for a third time in a row, after a 1-12 to 0-8 defeat of Tyrone champions Cookstown Fr Rock’s at the Shaw Road in Belfast.
They will now take on O’Donovan Rossa of Magherafelt (Derry) in the final after they beat Clann Eireann of Armagh in the other semi-final.
Despite leading 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time, Four Masters didn’t have it all their own way. Fr Rock’s fought back and narrowed that lead to just two points early after the restart.
However, Theo Colhoun’s late goal sealed a well-deserved victory for the Donegal men.
Speaking after the game, Four Masters’ Oisin Doherty said there was an ‘unreal buzz’ around the team after qualifying for the final.
