The Raphoe Hockey Club has presented Donegal sports broadcasting legend Charlie Collins with a special plaque following his retirement.
The club wished to thank Charlie for his contribution to sport in the county across a career that spanned four decades, as well as thanking Charlie for his coverage of Raphoe hockey over the years.
He retired in November, with many of the best and brightest from Donegal’s sporting, media and political scenes turning out for a special “Night for Charlie”.
Charlie recently met with Raphoe hockey clubman Rodney Bates to be presented with his plaque and thanked personally for all of his work.
“Charlie was no stranger on the sidelines in Raphoe,” the hockey club posted on social media.
“Some fantastic interviews with Captains and great commentary during a lot of the big Premier League Fixtures and did his best to promote hockey in Donegal.”
“Charlie was very keen to give all sports a chance even the minority ones. For this we will be for ever grateful.”
“The Club really appreciated all he did and we would like to wish him well and hope he has a happy and healthy retirement.”
