The annual Winter Solstice was celebrated around the world this morning through a special livestream of the passage tomb at Newgrange.
The 21st of December marks the shortest day and longest night of the year, with hundreds of tourists gathering at Newgrange to see the 5000-year-old phenomena of sunlight illuminating the tomb.
In a beautiful scene just after 9am this morning, a layer of cloud cleared just in time to allow the sun to appear over Newgrange, bathing the tomb in natural light for a few minutes.
The amazing moment was captured on a livestream inside the tomb itself.
