Gardaí have appealed to quad and scrambler users in west Donegal to stay off private and conservation lands in the area.
Milford Garda Station received a report at the weekend in relation the vehicles being used in the areas of Thorr, Dunlewey and Glenveagh on areas of conservation and also on private property.
“We wish to advise the users of these types of machines that it is an offence to use them in areas of conservation because of the damage that they could cause,” Garda Clare Rafferty said.
Rangers patrol these areas regularly and, Gda Rafferty added, the quad/scrambler users in question may not have been aware that they are not allowed in these areas.
“They also may not have been aware that they were on private property. We appeal to everybody to always be mindful of where they are and to be respectful.”
