The new Swilly-Mulroy Mobility Bus has been launched as a valuable community asset for greater inclusion.
Milford & District Resource Centre (MDRC) marked the launch on Sunday at The Gallowglass Community Centre with an event packed with festive cheer and community spirit.
Santa’s magic elf, Decky Halls, and Santa himself, brought joy to all the little ones.
The Swilly Mulroy Mobility Bus, equipped with the latest accessibility features, will provide safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges. This new bus will enable MDRC and Mevagh FRC to expand their services, ensuring that more individuals can access essential resources, healthcare, and social activities with ease and comfort.
“We are incredibly excited to see the Swilly Mulroy Mobility Bus in action,” said Declan Meehan, Manager at MDRC. “The support from our community has been overwhelming, and we are grateful to everyone who made this fantastic Festive Event possible.”
The acquisition of the Swilly Mulroy Mobility Bus was made possible through CLÁR funding, under The Department of Rural and Community Development. It also received funding from Donegal County Council through Sláintecare and the Healthy Ireland initiative. Also, donations from the Swilly-Mulroy Credit Union, MS Ireland, Druva, and Donegal Oil.
MDRC and Mevagh FRC are still calling for volunteer bus drivers to join their team. All you need is a standard Category B licence. Full training will be provided, and Garda vetting will be organised.
