Donegal TD Pearse Doherty has again called for the reopening of the Leitirmacaward GP surgery.
The health centre was closed in November 2022 following concerns that the building was not fit for purpose.
Despite petitions and meetings, it remains out of service with patients having to travel to neighbouring areas such as Glenties.
Deputy Doherty said he raised the issue with the regional head of the HSE at a meeting today.
“I called for the Leitirmacaward GP surgery to be immediately reopened,” said the Sinn Féin TD.
“The reopening of the facility should be treated as a matter of urgency by the HSE.
“The community of Leitirmacaward were reassured that this facility would be reopened when renovation work was being carried out.
“This work has now long been completed yet centre remains closed. This is simply not acceptable.
“I have asked the HSE to provide me with a report as to when the centre will reopen.
“I will continue to pursue this issue. The community of Leitir and the surrounding areas deserve nothing less.”
