Police in the North are searching for a Derry man who has escaped from prison, where he was serving a life sentence for murder.
55-year-old James Meehan is on the run from HMP Magilligan near Limavady, where he is serving a life sentence for the murder of Derry man James McFadden following a wedding reception at a Donegal hotel in 2007.
Meehan absconded from prison after not returning following a day release on Monday the 9th of December.
Police are appealing to anyone who has seen him, or who knows of his whereabouts, not to approach him directly but to contact Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1251 09/12/24.
