Gardaí are seeking to identify a man who stole a lifebuoy from a popular tourist boat in Donegal Town.
The incident occurred at the Donegal Bay Waterbus in the early hours of Sunday, at approximately 1.15am. A man got onto the vessel and he removed a lifebuoy.
He was described as wearing a white/light coloured shirt, a navy bodywarmer, blue jeans and brown shoes. He had brown hair and possibly aged in his late 20’s/early 30’s.
Thankfully, the life buoy was found discarded the following day in the nearby carpark and it is still fit for use.
“We are anxious to progress this investigation and so we appeal to anybody who may have travelled in the area of Quay Street or within the carparks on that street and who may have observed this man to make contact with us,” a garda spokesperson said.
If anybody was in that area with a dash-cam between 1am and 1.30am on December 1st, please make the footage available to Gardaí.
If anybody can assist with this investigation in any way, they are urged to contact Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530. The Garda Confidential Line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
