Four new Gardaí are to be assigned to the Donegal Division shortly.
A garda spokesperson confirmed they will graduate on Friday, before being assigned to Buncrana and Letterkenny.
“We were delighted to hear that four additional Garda members will soon join us within the Donegal Division,” a garda spokesp;rseon said.
“A graduation ceremony is due to take place at the Garda College on Friday and following that, three additional Garda members will join us in Letterkenny and one will be based in Buncrana. We wish them all the best on Friday and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
Last month Independent TD Thomas Pringle claimed there had been a drop in garda numbers in the county.
“The Donegal population has risen by 5% from 2016 to 2022, yet the Garda presence per capita in Donegal has shrunk in recent years, from one Garda per 362 people in 2020 to one Garda per 383 people in 2023, marking a 12% decline,” he said.
