Donegal Surf Lifesaving Club had an impressive showing at the prestigious Orange Cup in Holland this past weekend, with 14 junior and senior competitors representing the club from across Ballyshannon, Letterkenny, Ramelton, Termon, Dungloe, and Glenties.
The event attracted over 750 elite lifeguards and swimmers from around the world, including competitors from as far afield as Hong Kong and South Africa.
The Donegal team competed in both individual and relay events, delivering outstanding results and numerous personal best performances. A particular highlight was the Girls Senior Relay Team, who set a new Irish record in the Medley Relay, showcasing the strength and skill of the club’s swimmers.
Training continues every weekend at Ballyshannon Leisure Centre as the team looks ahead to the next major competition: the Irish National Pool Lifesaving Competition, set to take place in Limerick in February. The team is eager to continue their success and build on this strong performance.
The club would like to extend sincere thanks to the Letterkenny Credit Union and Councillors Liam Blaney and Michael McBride for their generous donations, which helped make the trip to Holland possible.
