Paralympic gold medallist Katie-George Dunlevy has earned an RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year award nomination.
Katie-George and her tandem para cycling partner Linda Kelly have also been nominated for the RTÉ Sport Team of the Year award ahead of next week’s ceremony.
Dunlevy, whose father John is from Mountcharles, is Ireland’s most successful female Paralympic athlete after taking home home gold and silver medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Dunlevy and Kelly won a superb Paralympic Gold in the Women’s Time Trial B road race. Dunlevy secured two Silver medals in the Individual Pursuit B (with pilot Eve McCrystal) and Road Race B (with pilot Linda Kelly).
Weeks later, Dunlevy and Kelly continued their winning streak at the World Championships in Zurich, where they clinched two more gold medals in the Time Trial B and Road Race B events.
Joanne Cantwell, Darragh Maloney and Jacqui Hurley will present the RTÉ Sport awards ceremony from Studio 4 in RTÉ on Sunday, 15 December, with the action broadcast live on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player from 9.30pm.
The awards being handed out on the night in front of an audience of Irish sports stars include the RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year, the RTÉ Sport Team of the Year, the RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year and the RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year.
